Marilou Rubright brings a wealth of experience as an specialized clinician, a clinical instructor and administrator to AOT. She earned a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in 1983, having received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Edinboro University. She was certified by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission in 1991, an event that defined her career as a hand therapy specialist.

Marilou Rubright, CHT, OT/L

From 1987-1996, Ms. Rubright worked for AOT, Inc. as a clinician specializing in the evaluation and treatment of upper extremity disorders and as a manager in its occupational health division. As such, she developed procedures for job site analysis and accessibility auditing and provided onsite consultation for community work programs. She was a central figure in the development of its outpatient division. During this time, she served as adjunct faculty at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health Sciences.

In 1996, she relocated to Birmingham, Alabama, where she continued her career as a clinical hand therapist in an industrial medicine setting. Coinciding with this position, she became a clinical instructor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Returning to Pittsburgh in 2002, she became a senior clinician with Human Motion Rehabilitation of West Penn Allegheny Health System where she specialized in wound care, clinical training, and the evaluation and treatment of traumatic hand injuries in an outpatient setting. As part of her affiliation, she presented sessions on work injury management, cumulative trauma injuries, and complex injuries of the upper extremities at three regional hand conferences.

January 2009, Ms. Rubright rejoined AOT’s senior management staff as Director of Home Care and Outpatient Services. She oversees AOT’s occupational therapy service provision in 30 outpatient sites and through 12 home health agencies throughout western Pennsylvania. Her duties also include quality monitoring, budgeting, staff supervision and program development. Outside of AOT, Ms. Rubright serves as adjunct faculty at Duquesne University’s Rangos School of Health Sciences. Her professional affiliations include the American Society of Hand Therapists and the American Association for Hand Surgery.
